Issue 1: The Lack of Workforce Housing We need to identify ways to provide affordable housing for those who work in New Hanover County, so that those who work here can afford to live here. Identifying areas to build workforce housing will give us the ability to attract quality industry to our County; industry that will provide jobs for the citizens of New Hanover County. 

Issue  2: Hiring and Retaining Quality Educators  I will work with our State Legislature and local school board to raise our local teachers' supplement so that we can attract and retain quality teachers.

Issue 3: Traffic Concerns  I will work with the State Department of Transportation to complete road projects here and  ensure the timely completion of the Hwy 17 connection off of I-140 connecting New hanover County with Brunswick County. This will help alleviate some of our traffic concerns.

Issue 4: Titan Cement Plant  This has become a major issue for those concerned about the health of NE Cape Fear River and the environment in that area.  Issues have been raised about the health of the individuals who live within a 5-10 mile radius of the plant.  Others are excited about the 160 new jobs that will be brought to the area.  I have a link to the Stop Titan website and a link to Titan Americas website so that you can compare the facts and draw your own conclusion. I am openly opposed to this plant coming here and I will work to repeal the 4.2 million dollar incentive offered by the County Commissioners.
